Jackets.life | 2010
Usually we are used to help them but here they change their role. They are the experts, they are the counselors.
People with their background have different experiences to share.
In Jackets.life they are councelling visitors, how a jacket has to be made, that it is ready for various situations.
The first performance was done on an exposition " The future of work".
Various forms of work which differ from gainful employment were shown that day.
In Jackets.life two experts were present : one woman who lived in the streets years ago and who now has a job in a second hand shop for people living in poverty.
The other expert is actually homeless and was asked the day before, if he wants to take part.
A tailor was present.
The visitors of the expositions first got a counseling by one of the experts which kind of jacket to choose. There was a choice of second hand jackets in good quality.
In a second step the experts shared their experiences and acted as counselors. Depending to the visitors personal needs they gave their advice. In a third step the taylor changed the jackets. Some times the visitor needed more bags, or a belt, or a coffee mug inside the jacket.
The project was realized in collaboration with Kleiderkammer/ Diakonia who offered second- hand material, sewing machines, the taylor and one expert.
