collapse NOT THE END | 2011
- a Scherzo based on Treatise by Cornelius Cardew
collapse / NOT THE END is a one week ‘lingering collapse’ conceived and performed as SMALL DAILY COLLAPSES during the week of the festival (CHANGING TENTS @ Burning Ice Festival 4), culminating in the choreography LEAVE on Sunday 23 January, between 13:00 and 15:00.
The ‘lingering collapse’ is a form of friction and decay, integrated into the festival. It’s a series of SMALL DAILY COLLAPSES, little shocks and errors that will test our resilience and that will be executed in a playful manner – a scherzo. LEAVE, the closing choreography on Sunday deals with different notions of ‘leaving’: going away, exiting, evacuating, issuing, escaping, disappearing, moving on. During the week all inhabitants as well as visitors of Changing Tents are asked to tell – as if they’re looking back to the past – how a colony once situated on the Quai des Péniches, disappeared. On a basis of these ‘memories’ the individual trajectories for LEAVE will be noted and collectively per- formed.
