The basic idea for this project was to work on movement and sound that has a strong effect on a public - the kind of effect generated by a rock concert or music video. The goal was to create a performance which 'works' like a rock concert but doesn't necessarily look or sound like one.
The movement material was based on sampled movement material from different found sources including music videos and concert footage. Working from recognizable poses and movement patterns, the intention was to erode these patterns using repetition and the slowing down and speeding up of co-ordinations in order to morph between forms.
During a two week research period at Netwerk, Aalst Peter Lenearts and ['aisikl] explored the possibility of making a composition for three electric guitars. Paralleling the work on movement, the musicians started from a collection of rock anthems and used similar techniques to transform recognizable chord patterns and riffs.
